Re: Prohibiting political parties from holding meetings or carrying out any other political activities


Whereas the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, 2540 Buddhist Era has come to an end in accordance with the Announcement of the Council for Democratic Reform No 3 dated the 19th day of September 2549 BE, and the Announcement of the Council for Democratic Reform No 7 dated the 20th day of September 2549 BE has been issued to prohibit political assembly, but the administration under the democratic system with a Monarch as Head [of State] should be allowed to go on without interruption after the situations are restored to normalcy, the Council for Democratic Reform hereby announces as follows:

Article1.The Organic Act on Political Parties, 2541 BE shall continue to be in force in order that the political parties remain in existence.

Article2.For the purposes of maintenance of order, the existing political parties shall be prohibited from holding meetings or carry out any other political activities, and the proceedings for establishment or registration of political parties shall be suspended temporarily.

This Announcement shall take effect until otherwise announced.
