2.

The miracle at Cana.

C. 2, 3-II.

The Lord begins his activity in Galilee with a miracle that contains an elevation above the pressures of ordinary life, a victory over all that is oppressive and lacking, which can no longer harm the spirit in its upsurge and when it becomes aware of its creative power, The spirit contains a true exultation of creation, comparable only to the ecstasy of nature when it succeeded in producing wine, the highest manifestation of the miserable in the plant world, a miracle that celebrates the triumph over prosaic teleology and the principle of utility.
