Mia yrmana fremosa (13th century)
by Martín Codax, translated from Galician by Wikisource

This is a "cantiga d'amigo" (friend song) recorded in the Pergaminho Vindel (Vindel parchment) which was discovered in 1913 by the Madrid-based antiquarian bookseller and bibliophile Pedro Vindel. The full document, with transcriptions of the Galician text, was published by Vindel in Las siete canciones de amor, Madrid (1915).

My beautiful sister,
come with me
to the church in Vigo
where the sea is breaking,
and we will watch the waves.

My beautiful sister,
come freely
to the church in Vigo,
where the sea is up,
and we will watch the waves.

To the church in Vigo
where the sea is up,
and join my mother
and my beloved,
and we will watch the waves.

To the church in Vigo,
where the sea is breaking,
and join my mother
and my friend,
and we will watch the waves.
