Text edit

God, lead me in Your righteousness because of those observing me; make straight Your way before my face.

Rashi edit

Those observing me

Those that are eyeing me; who anticipate that I shall betray You and You will abandon me. Those observing me – like (Numbers 24:17): I shall observe him, but not near.

Ibn Ezra edit

God

The beginning of my prayer – that You shall lead me in the way of Your righteousness.

Because of those observing me

For I shall fear that my leg will stumble and You will punish me, then those observing me will rejoice. And its meaning is from the root of (Numbers 24:17): I shall observe him, but not near; like (1 Samuel 18:9): Eyed David; those who look out for a bad day.

And the word make straight – like (Genesis 8:17): Let them go out with you.
