מעשה שעברו יתר מארבעים זוג,

ועיכבם רבי עקיבה בלוד;

שלח לו רבן גמליאל,

אם מעכב אתה את הרבים, נמצאת מכשילם לעתיד לבוא.

English Translation

It happened that more than 40 pairs passed, and Rabbi Akiva detained them in Lod. Rabban Gamliel sent to him: If you stop the masses, it will turn out that you will cause them to stumble in the future.
