S. Route 6 immediately east of the intersection with State Route 90. (The portion of the above described routing between U. S. Route 71 and the eastern terminus described above is on Interstate Route 80).

This routing would begin at the intersection of present U. S. Route 6 and State Route 90 east of Dexter, thence north over State Route 90 via Redfleld, Adel and Waukea to an intersection with present U. S. Route 6 and Interstate Route 35, four (4) miles west of Des Moines.
REJECTED—Violates the concept of the U. S. Numbered System, by which the best and shortest route available is marked for the convenience of the traveling public and there is no indication an "Alternate Route" is needed to avoid overloading the major route.

Route 75 and State Route 140 at Sloan, thence west to newly constructed Interstate Route 29, thence northerly over I-29 by-passing the towns of Salix and Sergeant Bluff to an intersection with present U. TENNESSEE U. S. 129
Extension
This routing would begin in Knoxville at the end of present U. S. Route 129, thence northerly over U. S. Route 441 to Halls Crossroads, thence over State Route 33 to Tazewell, thence northeasterly over U. S. Route 25 E to the Kentucky-Virginia-Tennessee State line at Cumberland Gap.
REJECTED—An over concentration of U. S. Numbered routes now serve the area and the standards of the highway are not up to those required under the policies revised January 1, 1959.

Route 69 between the above described terminal points).

This routing would begin at the junction of present U. S. Route 281 and State Route 54, thence south over State Route 54 to the South Dakota-Nebraska State line.

(Nebraska Section)

Beginning at the Nebraska-South Dakota State line at the common connection of Nebraska State Route 18 and South Dakota State Route 54, thence southerly over Nebraska State Route 18 to present U. S. Route 281 at Spencer.

REJECTED—Submission premature. Committee suggested resubmission when the roadway and surfacing is up to primary standards as set forth in Section 14 of the policies revised January 1, 1959.

This routing would begin at the west city limits of Richmond on U. S. Route 360, thence southwesterly with U. S. Route 360 to Virginia State Route 49, thence southerly via Crewe, The Falls, Victoria, Chase City, Clarkeville and Virgilina to the North Carolina State line.

(North Carolina Section)

This routing would begin at the Virginia State line on North Carolina State Route 49, thence southwesterly via Roxboro, Carr, Graham, Liberty, Ramseur, Farmer, Harrisburg, Charlotte, to the South Carolina State line southwest of Charlotte.

(South Carolina Section)

This routing would begin at the South Carolina State line on South Carolina State Route 49, thence southwesterly via York, Sharon, Bullock Creek, Lockhart to Union, thence over U. S. Route 176 southerly via Whitmire, to State Route 19, thence southerly via Helena, Newberry, Saluda, Johnston to U. S. Route 25 at Trenton, thence southerly with U. S. Route 25 to the Georgia State line at Augusta.

(Georgia Section)

This routing would begin at the South Caroline State line in Augusta on U. S. Route 25 thence south and west with U. S. Route 25 to U. S. Route 278, thence west with U. S. Route 278 to Warranton, thence southwesterly on Geogia State Route 16 to Sparta, thence southwest on State Route 22 to State Route 24

This routing would begin at the Georgia State line on U. S. Route 27 at Darcy thence southerly to Florida State Route 12 at Havana, thence westerly with State Route 12 via Littens, Quincy and Greensboro to State Route 20 at Bristol, thence west with State Route 20 to State Route 71 in Blountstown, thence southerly with State Route 71 to State Route 22 at Wewahitchka, thence west with State Route 22 to Panama City, Florida.

Beginning at the junction of U. S. Route 41 and State Route 85 south of Atlanta, thence southerly over State Route 85 via Fayetteville, Senoira, Harelson, Alvaton, Gay and Woodbury to State Route 41 at Manchester, thence southerly over State Route 41 via Woodland, Talbotton, Geneva, Buena Vista, Preston, Weston and Shellman to State Route 45 at Morgan, thence southerly over State Route 45 via Arlington and Damascus to State Route 91 in Colquitt, thence southwesterly over State Route 91 via Donalsonville to the Georgia-Florida State line, there connecting with Florida State Route 2.

REJECTED—Does not meet the general requirements established in Section 4 of the policies revised January 1, 1959.

(Florida Section)

Beginning at the Georgia-Florida State line on State Route 2 north of Hornersville, thence westerly over State Route 2 via Ellis Church and Sills to Campbellton, thence southwesterly on State Route 273 to Chipley, thence continue southwesterly over State Route 217 to Vernon, thence southerly over State Route 79 via New Hope, Redhead, Ebro and Westbay to U. S. Route 96 west of Panama City.

FLORIDA U. S. 129

Revision requested at June 11, 1959 meeting. Action deferred pending further study.)
This routing would be over a State Route from east of Branford to Live Oak, which until June 1958 was originally U. S. Route 129. Present U. S. Route 129 between Branford and Live Oak will be assigned a State Route number.

This routing would be over former U. S. Route 129 (Present U. S. Route 27) at Branford, westerly 1.4 miles, thence southerly to Oldtown, thence southeasterly to present U. S. Route 129 at Chiefland.
ACTION DELAYED—The Member Department is to determine one specific U. S. routing between Live Oak and Chiefland and advise the Executive Secretary of its selection of routing which is to be designated as U. S. Route 129.
NEW MEXICO-
ARIZONA
U. S. 64
Extension of Route

(New Mexico Section)

This routing would be over a now highway constructed between Ranchos de Taos and U. S. Route 285 east of Ojo Caliente, thence westerly vith U. S. Route 285 through Ojo Caliente, thence on new location westerly to State Route 96, thence westerly with State Route 96 via Abiquiu, Coyote and Gallinas to Regina, thence northerly over State Route 95 to Landrith, thence northwesterly on new location to Astec, thence westerly with U. S. Route 550 via Farmington to Shiprock, thence westerly with State Route 504 to the Arizona-New Mexico State line.

REJECTED—Extension of this route is premature and it does not meet the requirements set out in Sections 4 and 14 of the policies revised January 1, 1959.
Action: Same as above.

(Arizona Section)

Beginning at the point of connection with State Route 504 on the Arizona-New Mexico State line, thence in a westerly direction via Carrizo to Mexican Water, thence in a southwesterly direction via Dinnehotso, Kayenta, Tonalea and Tuba City to U. S. Route 89 approximately 14 miles north of Cameron.

MONTANA U. S. 12
Relocation
(Revised Submission)
This routing would follow State Route 6 westerly from Forsyth via Melstone, Roundup, Ryegate, Harlowton and White Sulpher Springs to Townsend, thence northwesterly with U.S. 10N via Helena to Garrison, thence westerly with U. S. 10 via Drummond to Missoula.
APPROVED—After a study of the information supplied by the other States that would be affected by any subsequent proposed extension beyond Missoula when construction standards and traffic needs might qualify for inclusion in the U. S. Numbered System, the rerouting of U. S. Route 12 from Forsyth to Missoula instead of into Yellowstone Park was approved. Further, Montana must drop from the U. S. Numbered System all of U. S. 10 N between Three Forks and Garrison, also U.S. 10 S is to be renumbered U. S. 10 between Three Forks and Garrison, thereby also dropping U. S. 10 S from the U. S. Numbered System. The portion of U. S. 10 N between Three Forks and Townsend would be given a State Route Number. Present U. S. Route 12 between Forsyth and Yellowstone National Park as to be redesignated and marked as U. S. 312.
