Chap. XCII.—An Act making additional appropriations for the service of the year one thousand eight hundred and fourteen.
Specific appropriations.
Building vessels on lakes Ontario and Champlain.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the sum of six hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby appropriated for the purpose of defraying the expenses which have been or may be incurred in building and equipping vessels of war on lakes Ontario and Champlain, to be paid, first, out of the balances of appropriations for the support of the navy remaining unexpended at the end of the year one thousand eight hundred and thirteen, and secondly, out of the surplus of any other appropriation which may, in the opinion of the President, be transferred to that object without injury to the public service.
Expenses of clerks.Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That for defraying the expense of additional clerks in the offices of the Secretary of the Treasury, Comptroller, and Auditor of the United States, the following sums, in addition to the sum already appropriated, be, and he is hereby appropriated: For the office of the Secretary of the Treasury, the sum of one thousand dollars: for the office of Comptroller, seven hundred dollars: and for the Auditor’s office, one thousand dollars; which several sums shall be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
Subsistence and clothing, &c. of marine corps.Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That in addition to the sums already appropriated to those objects, the sum of one hundred and eighty-nine thousand two hundred and ninety-one dollars be, and the same is hereby appropriated to pay the bounty, subsistence, clothing, and other expenses of the marine corps, to be paid out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
Bounty and pay of seamen.Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That the sum of one hundred and twenty-two thousand seven hundred dollars be appropriated for the bounty and pay of seamen for the year one thousand eight hundred and fourteen, in addition to the sum already appropriated, to be paid out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
