Chapter I.An Act making appropriation for compensation to the members and officers, and for the contingent expenses, of the two houses of Congress.

Compensation to the Senators and members of the House of Representatives, &c., for fuel, &c.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the sum of four hundred and fifty-five thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby, appropriated, for compensation to the Senators and members of the House of Representatives, and delgates of territories, their officers and attendants; and the further sum of eighty thousand dollars, for fuel, stationery, and all other contingent expenses of the two Houses of Congress, and that the said sums be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
