Chap. LXXXVIII.An Act to authorize the Secretary of the War Department to purchase a site for an arsenal at St. Louis, in the state of Missouri, and to provide for the erection of an arsenal on the same.

Secretary of War to purchase a site for an arsenal at or in the vicinity of St. Louis.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the War Department be, and is hereby, authorized to purchase, as soon as it can be effected, on reasonable terms, a site for an arsenal, at or in the vicinity in St. Louis, Missouri; and to cause to be erected such an arsenal on the same, as may be deemed proper for the safe keeping of the arms and munitions of the United States, on that frontier; and that for these purposes the sum of fifteen thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby, appropriated out of the moneys of [in] the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
