Chap. XLVIII.—An Act supplementary to the act of the fourth of July, eighteen hundred and thirty-two, entitled “An act for the final adjustment of the claims to lands in the south-eastern district of Louisiana.”[1]
Act of July 4, 1832, ch. 166.
Claims confirmed.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the claims for lands within the south-eastern district of the state of Louisiana, described by the register and receiver of the said district, in their report to the Secretary of the Treasury, bearing date the fifth of September, eighteen hundred and thirty-three, at New Orleans, be, and the same are hereby confirmed against any claim on the part of the United States, except the different applications hereinafter specified, to wit: in class A of said report, the following numbers: three, ten, twenty-five, thirty-two, thirty-eight, and forty-six.
In class B, of said report, the folowing numbers, twenty-six, twenty-eight, twenty-nine, nineteen, twenty-three, forty-seven, thirteen, thirty-five, forty-two, and forty-three.
In class C, of said report, the following numbers: six, one hundred and eighty-six, two hundred and twenty, two hundred and twenty-one, and eighty-six, eighty-four and eighty-five, forty, one hundred and seventy-six, one hundred and seventy-seven, one hundred and seventy-eight, one hundred and seventy-nine, one hundred and ninety-one, one hundred and ninety-eight.
Transcript of title-papers, &c. to be reported to the Secretary of the Treasury, and laid before Congress.Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That it shall be the duty of the register and receiver, in said district, to make out a full and perfect transcript of all the title-papers and of the evidence in their office, in relation to the numbers excepted in the frist section of this act, and report the same to the Secretary of the Treasury, with such other and further information in relation to said claims, as may be directed by the Secretary of the Treasury, for the final and just settlement of said claims on or before the commencement of the next session of Congress; and he is hereby required and directed to report the same to Congress as early as practicable thereafter, with his opinion touching the validity of said claims.
