Index Preview gadget

Index Preview is a Gadget which helps to preview index pages. There are two components: a single-page preview, and a whole-book grid preview.

Installation

edit

Add to your common.js:

mw.loader.load('//en.wikisource.org/w/index.php?title=User:Inductiveload/index_preview.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript');

Single-page preview

edit

To see a preview of a single page (for example to verify a page number), alt-click on the page's entry in the page list. A popup will appear and the image thumbnail will load.

There are some additional actions provided by buttons above the image thumbnail.

If the page does not exist, these actions are available:

  • Without text: create the page as Without text with no content.
  • Raw img: create the page as Problematic and add a {{raw image}} template to the page. Use this for full-page image plates.
  • Table: create the page as Problematic and add a {{missing table}} template to the page. Use this for full-page tables.

Whole-book grid preview

edit

To see a preview of all the pages together, click "Show page grid" in the toolbox on the left, or at the top right of the page list. A grid of all the image will appear under the page list. This may take some time as the thumbnailer can be slow to cache thumbnails and requests can fail in the meantime.

The images in the grid have the same alt-click tools as the page list links above.

Click the button again to hide the page grid.
