edit@Billinghurst: Hi there. You recently deleted the two redirects The Federalist/10 and The Federalist/47. Could you tell me where they led? I'd like to fix those links pointing there on the german wikipedia. Thanks in advance --Gelegenheits-Wikipedianer (talk) 15:09, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- I guess I know a probable answer: The Federalist (Dawson)/10 and The Federalist (Dawson)/47. Please confirm? --Gelegenheits-Wikipedianer (talk) 15:26, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi. Yes, I did, they were confusingly sitting as subpages to a disambiguation page, and yes, that is where they were directed. Whomever moved them whenever, I did some spot checks and didn't see any local linking. As a suggestion to a better way to link to our works at enWS, can I point you to template:wikidata link and w:template:cite Q both of which utilise Wikidata as the source of truth (and I am hoping that the individual pages have been Wikidata'd. — billinghurst sDrewth 20:57, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- And I really appreciate the ping, as I went and looked at the works, and they needed some tidy up to utilise relative links, which I have now done. — billinghurst sDrewth 21:14, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Billinghurst: Thank you, I fixed the links. Unfortunately, the german Wikipwdia (deWP) does not seem to have the WikiData Link templates (and I honestly don't want to port it), so I linked directly.... but at least the links again point where they should. And just to be clear: I don't blame you (or anyone else) for cleaning up those redirects... they shouldn't have been there in the first place, i guess. At least it's less common to search for a page on WikiSource (in either language) than it is to find the moved/renamed/merged categories on Commons :D --Gelegenheits-Wikipedianer (talk) 10:07, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for your understanding. Usually for us we will maintain the redirects at the level of the work (root level) and not create the subpage redirects as they get very messy and confusing. It is such an imperfect means, so some of the WD linking possibilities has been really useful, it has definitely helped us for our linking to WD where we leverage things. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:24, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
