Welcome edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikisource! Thank you for joining the project. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Please consider putting a brief description of yourself on your user page. If you are already a contributor to another Wikimedia project, such as Wikipedia, please mention this on your user page so we know how to contact you. Also, mention which languages you understand if English is not your first language.

In any case, I hope you enjoy donating your time to grow the Wikisource library that is free for everyone to use! In discussions, please "sign" your comments using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question here (click edit) and place {{helpme}} before your question.

Again, welcome!

Are you interested in helping with maintenance, are expand our coverage in any particular area? Either way, I'll happily give you a few pointers to get you started. John Vandenberg (chat) 10:08, 25 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Collaboration project edit

fyi, we are collaborating on Author:George W. Bush this week. Do you know any Bush documents that are important (mention it on the talk page)? Can you help improve the formatting of Page:Bush 1974 Tender of Resignation.png? Perhaps you have time to transcribe Page:Bush Special Order.jpg (click the edit button and start typing :) Every little bit of help is required to establish our collection as a useful resource for Bush researchers to peruse. spelling edit

I have reverted your change to 97Hu860 Nullification of Trade Mark Registration, because spelling differences (American vs. British) are very common in documents on Wikisource, and we always use the spelling found on the source document. If you have access to the document in question, and can upload a scan to demonstrate the spelling adjustment you made is correct, the prior spelling should be retained. Deletion of your user pages edit

Hi Terra, I've tried to ask and learn about your reasons for your user page and user talk page deletions and constant changing of usernames, etc. on other WMF projects, particularly on Wikiversity and Wikipedia, without much success so far. I'm interested to learn more about your apparent motivations for 'covering your tracks', etc. Why not just leave the resources available for others to learn from, etc.? e.g., on Wikiversity other users spent a lot of time and energy mentoring, helping, offering feedback, etc. during your probabationary custodianship period, so availability of your talk pages (just as one example) could be helpful to have available. I'm finding it difficult to develop a sense of trust in you, particularly since you've deleted so much of our talk (for example). Jtneill 22:27, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

The reason why I've left a lot of the Wikimedia projects is due to the increase of "threats" which user's have been receiving, this is one reason why I left Wikipedia - because a lot of editor's received "threats" from un-registered and registered user's - I want no problems with the Wikimedia sites - and from what I've read on the Wikiversity site - it seems that I too have caused some problems which I'm sorry about, if the community on Wikiversity wants me to return then by all means I'll return - though I am getting concerned about the increase of threats which a number of user's have been receiving both on Wikipedia and other wiki-sites, though I won't be as active like I used to be. What is the nature/details of the threats you've been directly or indirectly experiencing? -- Jtneill - Talk - c 00:53, 12 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
