Brigadier-General, Aksu, Feb., 1889; Commander in Chief, Kashgar, Jure, 1890; Commander in Chief, Kansu, Jan., 1896; head of the Boxers, 1900; degraded, Feb., 1901; retired, into recesses of Kansu; was suggested as Commander of Troops in Kashgar in July, 1905, to suppress discontent in Chinese Turkestan.
