Educ.: Yale University Professor of Greek, Thayer College, 1873-75; arrived in Japan, 1875, at time of opening of Doshisha College, and has since been connected with that institution; at present Dean of Theological Department and Professor of Church History and New Testament, also Mission Secretary and Treasurer.
