LEYS, HENDRIK, Baron, born in Ant- werp, Feb. 18, 1815, died there, Aug. 25, 1809. History and genre painter, pupil of his brother-in-law, F. de Braekeleer, and of Antwerp Academy under Wappers ; at first adhered to the style of the former, but afterwards imitated the French romanti- cists aud the old Flemish masters.
