Town Residence, 5/, Eaton-place, S.W. Club, Travellers'. EFFINGHAM, Earl of, His lordship's predecessor was his father, Kenneth Alexander, G.C.B. 1st Earl of Effingham. He was b. Nov. 29, 1767; succeeded his kinsman as the llth Baron Howard of Emngham, Dec. 10, 1816; and in 1837, was raised to the Earldom of Effingham. He was a General Officer in the Army, and Colonel of the 3rd Buffs : m. May 27, 1800, Lady Charlotte Primrose, daughter of the 3rd Earl of Rosebery; and d. Feb. 13, 1845, having had issue four sons and five daughters. Her ladyship married, 2ndly (1858), Thomas Holmes, Esq. and d. 1864.
