Born 1795 ; suc- ceeded her brother, the 15th Baron, in 1835: married (1836) Edward Candler, Esq. of Morton Pinkney, Northampton- shire, who by Her Majesty's permission, in 1853, assumed the arms and surname of Sempill, in lieu of Candler. Heir presumptive, Sir William Forbes, 8th Bart, of Craigievar, great grandson of John, 13th Baron. B. 1836 ; was educated at Eton ; appointed Ensign and Lieut, in the Coldstream Guards, 1854 ; served in the Crimea, 1855 6, and retired, 1857 ; appointed Lieut.-Col. 1st Administrative Battalion Aberdeenshire Rifle Volunteer Corps, 1868 ; is a Dep. Lieut, and a Magistrate for Aberdeenshire : TO. 1st, 1858, Louisa, daughter of Sir Charles Forbes, 3rd Bart, of Newe. (from whom he obtained a divorce, 1861); 2ndly, 1862, Frances Emily, daughter of Sir Robert Abercromby, 5th Bart, of Birkenbog, and has, with other issue, John, b. 1863.
