Richard Barnes was admitted 12th July 1561, vice Downes. He was made bishop of Carlisle in 1570, and had license to hold this dignity in commendam with it, but he resigned it in the following year. William Palmer succeeded to it in 1571, and died possessed of this dignity 23rd Oct. 1605, having en- joyed it 34 years. William Goodwyn was collated 25th Oct. 1605; he became dean of Christ Church, Oxford, in 161 1. Phtneas Hodgson was collated 25th Sept. i6ii ; he died in 1646. His will, dated 18th Nov. 1645, was proved 8th Nov. 1647. Thomas Clutterbuck was appointed after the Re- storation in 1660. Christopher Stone was instituted 24th Oct. J 660, and died 26th Nov. 1686. John Covil, S.T.P., installed 7th Nov. 1687. Ob. 12th Dec. 1722. Daniel Waterland, S.T.P., 21st Dec. 1722. He died 23rd Dec. 1740. Samuel Baker, D.D., 12th Jan. 1740-41, on the death of Daniel Waterland. He died 9th Nov. 1749- Francis Waxley, D.D., 1st Dec. 1749, on the death of Samuel Baker.
