Dawson, Nathaniel Henry Rhodes, soldier, lawyer, statesman, was born Feb. 14, 1829, in Charleston, S.C. In 1851 he began the practice of law in Cababa, Ala. During the civil war he was captain in the fourth Alabama volunteers; and in 1863-64 he was elected to the legislature. In 1880-81 he was speaker of the Alabama house of representatives. He died Feb. 1, 1895, in Selina, Ala.
