Dressier, Louis Raphael, organist, musician, composer, was born Dec. 8, 1861, in New York City. He is an organist and choir director in New York City; and conductor of several choral societies and glee clubs. He is the editor of the World's Best Music; and is widely known as a composer of songs and church music. Drew, Charles Wilson, soldier, was born in New York. In 1861 he was first lieutenant in the seventy-fifth regiment New York volunteer infantry; and in 1865 was brevetted brigadier-general of volunteers. He died April 9, 1903. Drew, Daniel, capitalist, philanthropist, was born in 1788, in Carmel, N.Y. In 1866 he was treasurer of the Erie railroad company, to which he lent the sum of three and a half-million dollars. In 1866 he gave a quarter of a million dollars to found the Drew theological seminary of Madison, N. J.; and increased this sum by successive donations to nearly one million dollars. He died Sept. 19, 1879, in New York City. Drew, Franklin Mellen, soldier, lawyer, jurist, was born July 19, 1837, in Turner, Maine. He was a union soldier for over three years during the civil war; and was promoted to major and brevet colonel. In 186s 71 he was secretary of the state of Maine. In 1889 he was elected department commander, department of Maine grand army of the republic. Since 1889 he has served as judge of probate. Drew, George F., governor, was bom in 1827. He was the eleventh governor of Floiida in 1877-81. He died Sept. 26, 1900, in Jacksonville, Fla. Drew, Oilman Arthur, educator, biologist, scientist,

Drew, Thomas S., governor. He was the fourth governor of Arkansas in 1844-48. He died in Arkansas. Drexel, Anthony Joseph, banker, philanthropist, was born in 1826 in Philadelphia, Pa. He was president of the banking establishment of the New York Drexel, Morgan and company; and founded and heavily endowed the Drexel institute; and contributed largely to philanthropic and educational interests. He died June 30, 1893, in Carlsbad, Bohemia.

Drexel, George W. Childs, publisher, philanthropist, was born in 1868 in Philadelphia, Pa. He is the editor and publisher of the Public Ledger of Philadelphia, Pa. He the son of the late Anthony Joseph is Drexel, banker and philanthropist. Drexel, Joseph Wilhelm, banker, was born Jan. 24, 1831, in Philadelphia, Pa. After his father's death he returned to Philadelphia; and in 1871, with Junius S. Morgan of London, established in New York City the banking house of Drexel, Morgan and company, becoming its head. He died March 25, 1888, in New York City. Dreyspring, Adolphe, educator, author, was born June 1, 1835, in Strasburg. In 185784 he was engaged in cotton planting in Alabama; and was a teacher of modem languages in the public schools of New York City. He is the author of Cumulative Method for Learning German; Easy Lessons in German; and Easy Lessons in French. He died in 1906 in
Alabama.

Drinker, Henry Sturgis, mining engineer, lawyer, college president, author, was bom Nov. 8, 1850, in Hong Kong, China. Since 1878 he has practiced law in Philadelphia and New York City; was general solicitor for the Lehigh Valley railroad company in 1885-1905; and since 1905 has been president of Lehigh university.
