He died April 1, 1875, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Este, George Peabody, soldier, lawyer, was born April 24, 1839, in Nashua, N.H. He was a colonel in the fourteenth Ohio infantry in 1862; and was promoted to brigadier-general of volunteers in 1864. His regiment presented him with a sword and diamond-studded belt. After 1865 he practiced law in Washington, D.C. He died Feb. 6, 1881, in

Estee, Morris M., lawyer, author. He is one of the leading lawyers of the Pacific coast; is active in politics; and was the republican candidate for United States senator in 1899. In 1900-03 he was district judge of the United States court for the district of Hawaii. He died in 1903 in San Francisco, C'al. King manufacturing company with a capital of one million dollars, which operates large cotton mills in Augusta, Ga. Estes, Dana, soldier, publisher, author, was born March 4, 1840, in Gorham, Maine. He served in the union army from 1861 until the second battle of Bull Run, where he was three times wounded and disabled from further service. He was educated at the Newton theological institution; at the university of Gottingen; and received the degree of D.D. He is a baptist minister, and has filled pastorates in Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts. Since 1891 he has been professor of the new testament interpretation at Colgate university of Hamilton, N.Y. He is the author of History of Holden, Mass.; and An Outline of New Testament Theology.

clergyman of New Hampshire. He is the author of The Christian Doctrine of the Soul. Estes, Lewellyn Garrish, soldier, was bom in Maine. In 1861 he became first sergeant in company A, first regiment Maine cavalry; and in 1865 attained the rank of brigadier-general of volunteers.
Estes, William Lawrence, physician, auwas born Nov. 28, 1855, in Brownsville, Tenn. He was educated at Bethel college and received the degrees of M.D. from the university of Virginia and from the university of New York; and the degree of A. M. from Bethel college in 1893. Since 1881 thor,
he has been physician and surgeon in chief at St. Luke's hospital in South Bethlehem, Pa. Since 1887 he has lectured on hygiene and physiology at the Lehigh university. He is the author of Treatment of Fractures, and also the chapter on Accident Surgery in Keen's System of Surgery. Estes, William Roscoe Greene, soldier, merchant, journalist, author, was born Nov. 22, 1830, in Durham, Maine. He was lieutenantcolonel on the staff of Governor Garcelon. In 1888-93 he was postmaster of Skowhegan, Maine; and in 1884 was grand master of masons in Maine. He is the author of History of Durham, Maine; and Genealogy of the Estes Family. Estey, Jacob, manufacturer, was bom Sept. 30, 1814, in Hinsdale, N.H. He was the founder and president of the Estey organ company. The works, now the largest of their class in the world, form the nucleus of the village of Esteyville, which derives its very existence and daily bread from the operations of the factory. The Estey or-
gan was widely advertised throughout the United States; and is the Estey organ can still be found in the homes of hundreds of thousands of the farmers throughout the United States and Canada. He died in Esteyville,
