Warren for two terms and for four years was president of the Warren board of health. In 1898 he was appointed American of

He was chairman of the AmericoIndian relief commission which distributed contributions among the famine sufferers in India. He is a member of the national geographical society; and other scientific bodies. Feehan, Patrick A., clergyman, archbishop, was born in 1829 in Ireland. He acquired great reputation as pastor of the church of the immaculate conception in St. Louis. In 1865 he was consecrated bishop of Nashville, Tenn.; and was archbishop of Chicago He died July 12, 1902, in in 1880-1902. Chicago, 111. Feely, John Joseph, lawyer, clergyman, was born Aug. 1, 1875, in Will county, 111. He was a lawyer of Chicago, 111. In 190103 he was a representative from Illinois to the fifty-seventh congress as a democrat. He died in 1905 in Chicago, 111. Fegan, James, soldier, was born in 1827 in Ireland. He re-enlisted eight times, entering the service again as soon as his term

and was finally retired in 1885. He served with credit in the civil war, and was wounded at Antietara. In 1868 at Plum Creek, Kansas, he stood guard single-handed over a deserter he had captured and a powder-train, defended both against a crowd of men who wished to recapture the deserter, and brought his charge safe to camp. For his gallantry he was given the United States medal of honor. He died June 25, 1886, in Fort Shaw, Montana. Felch, Alpheus, lawyer, jurist, governor, United States senator, was born Sept. 28, 1806. in Limerick, Maine. He was a member of the Michigan expired,

Feke, Robert, painter, artist, was born about 1725 in Oyster Bay, L.I. He settled at Newport, and became a portrait-painter. He was one of the earliest American artists, pictures bearing the date 1746. of his portraits are in the Bowdoin college collection, and in that of the Rhode Island historical society of Providence. Felch, Will Farrand, litterateur, poet, was born in Columbus, Ohio. He is the author of Legends and Lyrics, a. volume of poems. Felder, John Myers, soldier, lawyer, congressman, was born July 7, 1782, in Orangeburg, S.C. He was a member of the South Carolina state assembly in 1812; and subsequently of the senate. In 1804-19 he was assistant clerk and from 1819 until his death was chief clerk to the county commissioners. In 1806 he served one year as burgess-; and in 181418 served four additional terms as burgess. For many years he was a member of the borough council; and in 1809-10, 1811-14 and 1820-23 was its president. In 1807-10 he was president of Wilkesbarre academy; in 1810 was the first president of the agricultural society; and in 1824 was president of the Easton and Wilkesbarre turnpike company.
