He is the author of Midnight Talks at the Club; Beyond the Bourn; The Jewish Scrtptures; The Myths of Israel; The Story of the Philippines; The West Indies; and The Modern Bank. Fiske, Asa Severance, clergyman, author, was born March 2, 1833, in Strongsville, Ohio. In 1855 he graduated from Amherst college; and in 1859 became pastor of the

congregational church of St. Paul, During the civil war he served as chaplain and superintendent of refugees and abandoned bands. Since 1865 he has filled pastorates in the presbyterian church; and in 1896-1904 was pastor of the Gunton temple church at Washington, D. C. He is the author of Reason and Faith; and Ruth. first
