A.M., and subsequently the degree of LL.D. The degree of D.D. was conferred by the Albion college. In 187579 he was editor of the Michigan Christian Advocate. During 1850-53 he was professor of natural science at Albion college; in 1853-56 filled the same chair in the Michigan state normal school; and during 1856-63 was professor of chemistry at the Michigan state agricultural college. During 1863-77 he was pastor of churches in Jackson, Ann Arbor and Detroit; and during 1877-98 was president of Albion college. He is the author of Echoes from College Platforms; Among the Professions; To-day and To-morrow; Choosing a Life Work; and Human Life and its Forces. He died Feb. 14, 1901, in Denver, Colo. Fiske, Mary A. D., actress, was born Dec. She made 19, 1865, in New Orleans, La. her debut in Little Rock at the age of three years, as the Duke of York in Richard III.
