In 1827-29 he was a representative from Georgia to the twentieth congress; and was at one time a member of the state legislature of Georgia. Fosdick, James William, artist, author, was bom Feb. 13, 1858, in Charlestown, Mass. He is a mural painter of New York City; and founder of the art of fire etching in America. His decorations are in the homes of the Goulds, Havemeyers and others; and also in the Pennsylvania academy of fine arts. His principal work is the Glorification of Joan of Arc burnt wood decoration.
