He has received the degrees of B.S., A.M., M.D., D.M., and LL.D. from famous universities. He subsequently began the practice of medicine and microscopy in Pittsburg, Pa. He has a collection of six thousand slides of microscopic specimens;

is frequently called into court as expert witness in medico-legal cases. He is a bold surgeon; and has undertaken several capital surgical operations with success. Gage, Alfred Payson, educator, author, was born April 15, 1836, in Hopkinton, N. H. He was professor in the English high school of Boston, Mass. He was the author of a series of Text-Books on Physics. He died in 1903 in Arlington, Mass. Gafiney, Thomas St. John, lawyer, diplomat, author, was born Jan. 17, 1864, in Limerick, Ireland. He received a thorough education at Clongowes Wood college of Ireland; and studied law. He was a friend and co-worker of the late Charles Stewart Parnell. In 1896 he was secretary of the McKinley league for the state of New York. He is a noted lawyer, traveler and publicist; and a member of the Legion of Honor of France. Since 1905 he has been consul-
