1889 he has resided in Olympia, Wash.; was elected in 1892 to the superior bench of Thurston county; and in 1894 was an associate justice of the supreme court. Gordon, Patrick, soldier, colonial governor, author, was born in 1644 in England. In 1736-36 he was colonial governor of Pennsylvania; and in 1728 he published Two Indian Treaties at Conestogo. In 1726-38 he was colonial governor of Delaware. He died Aug.

Gordon, Robert Bryarly, merchant, congressman, was born Aug. 6, 1855, in Auglaize county, Ohio. He succeeded his father in the general grain business. He was auditor of Auglaize county in 1889-95. In 1899-1903 he was a representative from Ohio to the fifty-sixth and fifty-seventh congresses as a democrat. Gordon, Samuel, congressman, was bom in New York. He served in the New York state assembly in 1834; and in 1841-43 and 1845-47 he was a representative from New York to the twenty-seventh and twenty -ninth congresses. In 1863 he was appointed provost-marshal for the nineteenth district of New York. He died in New York. Gordon, Samuel Dickey, lecturer, author, was bom Aug. 12, 1859, in Philadelphia, Pa. Ln 1884-95 he was secretary of the Young men's christian association of Philadelphia and Ohio. Since 1895 he has been a public speaker. He is the author of Quiet Talks on Power; Quiet Talks on Personal Problems; and other works. Gordon, Seth Chase, physician, surgeon, political economist, was born Aug. 17, 1830, in Fryeburg, Maine. He was educated in the public schools of New England; attended Fryeburg academy; and in 1885 graduated from Maine medical school. He soon attained success as an eminent physician and surgeon of Portland, Maine; and was a member of the common council and school committee of his city. He has been lecturer on diseases of women at the Portland school for medical instruction. He has been president of the Cumberland county medical society; president of the Maine medical association and Maine academy of medicine; and vice-president of the American medical association. He has been commander of the Maine commandary loyal legion of the United States; for four years was a member of the democratic national committee for Maine; and is one of the vice-presidents of the anti imperialist league for Maine. '

He was elected attorney-general of the eastern district in 1698; chief secretary and register in 1702; and was elected to the legisltiture, and became speaker of the assembly. In 1709 he was chief justice of the supreme court of New Jersey; and was afterward receiver-general and treasurer of the province. He died in 1722 in Amboy, N.Y.
