Conklin, William Judkins, physician, was born Dec. 1, 1844, in Sidney, Ohio. In 187578 he was professor of physiology in Starling medical college of Columbus, Ohio, and of diseases of children in 1878-84. In 1890 he was president of the Ohio medical society; and for thirty years has been a member and president of the trustees of the Dayton public library and museum. Conkling, Alfred, lawyer, jurist, author, congressman, was born Oct. 12, 1789, in East Hampton, N.Y. He was a judge of the United States district court of New York; and his son was the noted statesman, Roscoe Conkling. In 1821-23 he was a representative from New York to the seventeenth congress. He is the author of Treatise on Organization and Jurisdiction of Superior, Circuit, and District Courts; Admiralty Jurisdiction; Powers of the Executive Department of the United States; and Young CitiHe died Feb. 5, 1874, in zen's Manual. Utica, N.Y. Conkling Alfred Ronald, lawyer, state legislator, author, was born Sept. 28, 1850, in New York City. He was assistant United States attorney in 1881-82; alderman of New York City in 1887 and was a member of New York legislature in 1892-95. He is the author of Appleton's Guide to Mexico; City Government in the United States; Handbook for Voters in New York City and Life of Roscoe Conkling. Conkling, Allen, manufacturer, inventor, was bom Dec. 21, 1852, in Fort Plain, N.Y. In 1882 he was general manager of the Troy laundry machinery on his own account in Chicago, HI., which business he sold out in 1901 to the Troy laundry machinery company. He subsequently established the Conkling machinery company for the manufacture of soaps, chemicals and laundry machinery, of which he is the inventor and patentee. Conkling, Frederick Augustus, merchant, congressman, was bom Aug. 22, 1816, in Montgomery county, N.Y. He was a member of the assembly of New York in 1854, 1859 and 1860. In 1861-63 he was a representative from New York to the thirty- seventh congress. He died Sept. 18, 1891.

Conley, Benjamin, merchant, state senator, governor, was born March 1, 1815, in Newark, N.J. In 1869 he was elected state senator; and was president of the senate. In 1871-72 he was governor of Georgia. He died Jan. 7, 1886, in Atlanta, Ga. Conley, John Dykeman, educator, scientist, author, was born Sept. 14, 1843, in Brockport, N.Y. In 1869 he was elected to the chair of chernistry and natural sciences in Blackburn university, Carlinville, 111; and in 1887-96 was professor of chemistry and geology in the state university of Wyoming. In 1897 he returned to Blackburn university. He has published a series of geological charts of all the ages and epochs, illustrated with two hundred figures of characteristic fossils.
