FEBRUARY 1.

Joe laid up with sore eyes. McC and Schum (?) at wall. Self at dingy.

FEBRUARY 2.

Joe and Schum at wall. McC after horses. Self at boat and ill. Red heifer with calf broke her leg in bog.

FEBRUARY 3.

Making splints and attending to heifer; & odd work. Hands the same. Mc after saddles horses; not found. Weather so hot men cannot work after 10 a.m. -

FEBRUARY 4.

The bull Durham missing found; with a broken leg; not likely to recover, or fit for meat; sent him home; & told Joe to sling get him slung; & do what he could for him. Started (self) after horses, as Mc could not find them. Schum and Joe clearing stone out of yard -

FEBRUARY 5.

Slept on house run; searched all day, could not find them; tracks many miles from home; & then within three miles of house. Mc brought them in. Hands as before. Endeavoured to sling bull; but did not succeed.

FEBRUARY 6.

Men making slings, slinging bull. Quarrying stone in fold.

FEBRUARY 7.

Sunday.
