Concerring Sfin'tuous Li- quors fee fartber cb. 28, e.g. Anno tricelimo tertio Georgii II. A. D. 1759, For every Gallon of Low Wines, or Spirits of the firft Extraftion, made or drawn from Cyder, or any Sort or Kind of Britijh Materials, except thofe before mentioned, or any Mixture therewith, to be paid by the Diflillers or Makers thereof, fix Pence three Farthings. , For every Gallon of Spirits made for Sale from Cyder or any Sort or Kind oi Britijh Materials, ' except thofe before mentioned, to be paid by the Diftillers or Makers thereof, one Shilling and one Penny three Farthings. For every Gallon offmgle Brandy Spirits, or Jqua Vita^ imported into Great Britain from be- yond the Seas, to be paid by the Importer before landing, one Shilling. For every Gallon of Brandy Spirits, or Aqua Vites^ above Proof, commonly called Double Brandy ^ imported into Great Britain from beyond the Seas, to be paid by the Importer before landing, two Shillings. i II. And for the better afcertaining, charging, collecting, ralfing, levying and fecuring the i Rates and Duties by this hdi impofed on the faid Spirituous Liquors, and preventing Frauds I therein. Be it further enacled by the Authority aforefaid. That fuch of the faid Rates and Duties by this A(5t granted, as are charged upon Spirituous Liquors made, extracted and manufactured in, ' or imported into Ev^land^ IValcs, or the Town of Berwick upon Tweed, fliall be under the Receipt and Management of the Commiflioners and Officers of his Majefty's Revenues of Excife in England for the Time being; and fuch of the faid Rates and Duties, as are impofed by this A6t upon Spiri- tuous Liquors made, extracted, and manufactured in, or imported into Scot/and, fliall be under the Receipt and Management of the Commiffioners and Officers of Excife in Scot/and for the Time being; and the faiJ refpecStive Commiffioners of Excife, or the major Part of them, have hereby Power, by Commiffion under their refpeCtive Hands and Seals, to conftitute and appoint under them fuch Officers as fhallbe neceil'ary in that Behalf: And all Monies arifing by the faid Duties in Great Britain, or any Part thereof (the necdlary Charges of raifing and accounting for the fame excepted) fliall, from Time to Time, be paid into the Receipt of his Majefty's Exchequer at ^Ve/i^ viwjier, diilinftly and apart from all other Branches of the publick Revenues ; and {hall ftand ap- propriated and be applied to the fame Ufes and Purpofes refpedtively as the prefent Duties on Spiri- tuous Liquors are now applicable and appropriated unto. and 2 Geo, 3. f. 5. That the additional Rate or Duty hereby charged upon Rum or Spirits of the Growth, Produce or Manufacture of the Britijh Sugar Plantations, imported into this Kingdom, fliall be paid and payable in fuch Manner only, and under fuch Regulations and ReftriCtions, as the Rates and Duties of Excife heretofore charged on fuch Rum or Spirits are now by Law paid and payable.

  • IV. And whereas by an Aft made in this prefent Seffion of Parliament, it was enaCted, That

  • for a Vvnited Time, the ynaking of Low Wines and Spirits froin IVhcat, Barley, Malt or any other Sort
  • of Grain, or frojn any Meal or Flour; which by ieveral fubfequent ACts, was continued until the
  • twenty-fourth Day oi December one thoufand feven hundred and fifty-nine; and alfo fo much of
  • an Adt made in the laft Seffion of Parliament, intituled, An Act to continue, for a further Time the
  • Prohibition of the Expoi'tation of Corn, Malt, Meal, Flour, Bread, Bifcuit and Starch ; and alfo to
  • continue for a further Time the Prohibition of the making of Low Wines and Spirits f ran Wheat, Barley^

Malt or any other Sort of Grain, or from Meal or Flour ; and to prohibit far a limited Time the making cf Low Wines and Spirits from Bran, as prohibits the making of Low Wines and Spirits from Bran; which was to continue until the twenty-fourth Day of Z^i-a^wi/^^r one thoufand feven hun- dred and fifty-nine, fhould be, and the fame were thereby continued from the Expiration thereof, until the twenty-fourth Day oi Dcconber one thoufand feven hundred and fixty, unlefs fuch Con- tinuation of the faid ACts, or of any Parts thereof, ftiould be abridged or fhortened by any other ACt to be made in this prcknt Seifion of Parliament ;' Be it therefore enaCted by the Authority aforefaid.
