An A£t for reviving and continuing fo much of an A<51 made in the twenty-firfl: Year of his prefent Majefty's Reign, as relates to the more effedual Trial and Punifh- ment of High Treafon, and Mifprifon of High Treafon, in the Highlands in Scotland i and alfo for continuing two other Ads, one made in the nineteenth Year, and the other made in the twenty-firfl: Year, of his prefent Majefty's Reign, fo far as they re- late to the more effectual difarming the Highlands of »Sftf//^»^, and for fecuring the Peace thereof. WHEREAS fo much of an A61 made in the twenty-firft Year of the Reign of his prefent Majefty, intituled, Jn ASi for the more effcSimd Trial and Puntjhment of High Treafon in the Highlands 2/" Scotland ; and for abrogating the Practice of taking down the Evidence in Writing in cer- tain Criminal Profecutions ; and for making fame further Regulations relating to Sheriff's Deputes and Stewarts Depute, and their Sub/iitutes ; and for other Purpojes therein mentioned ; as relates to the Trial and Punifhment of High Treafon, and Mifprifion of High Treafon, committed in the Highlands oi Scotland, is now expired; and alfo fo much of another A61 made in the nineteenth Year of his prefent Majefty's Reign, intituled, An A£i for the more effectual difarming the Highlands in Scotland ; and for the more efeifually fecuring the Peace of the {aid Highlands ; and for retraining the Ufe of the Highland Drefs ; and for further indemnifying fuch Perfons as have a£ied in Defence of his Majcflys Perfon and Government, during the unnatural Rebellion ; and for indemnifying the Judges and other Officers of the Court of Judiciary in Scotland for not pe forming the Northern Circuit in May- one thoufand /even hundred and forty -fix and for obliging the Majters and Teachers of t>rivate Schools in Scotland, and Chaplains, Tutors, and Governors of Children and Touth, to take the Oaths to his Ma~ je/ly, his Heirs or Succeffors, and to regi/ler the fame ; as relates to the more efFedually difarming and fecuring the Peace of the Highlands oi Scotland; and alfo fo much of another Adt made in the twenty-firft Year of his prefent Majefty's Reign, intituled, An A£l to amend and enforce fo much of an A£i made in the nineteenth Year of his Majeflfs Reign, as relates to the more effeSlual dif~ arming the Highlands in Scotland, and rejtraining the life of the Highland Drefs ; and to Mq/iers and Teachers of Private Schools, and Chaplains ; and to explain a Claufe in another ASi made in the fame Tear, relating to Letters or Orders of Epifcopal Mintflers in Scotland ; and to oblige Perfons allowed to carry Arms, and the Directors of the Banks there, and certain Perfons belonging to, and pra,^iffng in, the Courts of Seffion and Jifiiciary, to take the Oaths ; and to repeal fame Claufes in an Ah made in the firfi Year of the Reign of his late Majefiy King George the Firft, whereby certain Encouragements are given to Landlords and Tenants in Scotland, who /hall continue in their Duty and L'lyalty to his faid late Majefiy ; and for other Purpofes therein mentioned; as relates to the difarming of the Highlands, are near expiring : And whereas all thefe Adts have been found ufcful and beneficial to the Pub- liclc ;' Be it therefore enadted hy the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament aflembled, and by the Authority of the fame. That fo much of the faid firft mentioned A6t made in the twen- ty-firft Year of the Reign of his prefent Majefty, as relates to the Trial and Puniftiment of High Treafon, and Mifprifon of High Treafon, committed in the Highlands of Scotland, fhall from and after the firft Day oijune one thoufand feven hundred and fixty be revived and ftiall continue and be in Force for the Space of feven Years, and from thence to the End of the then next Seffion of Parliament. II. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That fo much of the two other A<f}s made in the nineteenth and twenty-firft Years of the Reign of his prefent Majefty, as relate to the more effeftually difarming the Highlands of Scotland, and fecuring the Peace thereof, fliall be, and are hereby continued, and fhall in Force from the Time limited for the Expiration thereof, foj fe- ven Years, and from thence to the End of the then next Seffion of Parliament.
