  • latid^ any Sort of Corn, Meal, Malt, Flour, Bread, Bifcuit or Starch, under the Penalties and Forfei-

' tures t(ie£*ein mentioned ; but with feveral Provifions and Savings in the f^id A6t contained : And where- ' as the Inhabitants of the Ifie of Man have, for feveral Years laft pall, been fupplied with confiderable Wheaf, &c. may <■ Quantities of Corr/, Meal and Flour, from Great Britain and Ireland-, and they are now in great Want be exported from c {^hereof, no Provifion or Saving having been made in the faid A6t for fupplying them therewith ;' Be it and Exae^r unto therefore enadted by the Authority aforefaid. That the faid recited A6t, or any Thing therein contained, the Jfleot Man ^^^ll not extend to any Wheat, Barley, Oats, Meal or Flour, to be tranfported out of or from the Ports of Southarnpton or Exeter only, unto the faid Ifle of Man, for the only Ufc of the Inhabitants of that Ifland, fo as the Exporter, before the Lading of fuch Wheat, Barley, Oats, Meal or Flour, or laying the fame on Board, do become bound, with other fufficient Security (which the Cuitomer or Comptroller of either of the faid Ports refpedtively hath hereby Power to take in his Majeily's Name, and to his Majefly's Ufe, and for which Security no Fee or Reward fhall be given or taken) that fuch Wheat, Barley, Oates, Meal or Flour, fliall be landed in the faid Ifle of Man (the Danger of the Seas only excepted) for the Ufe of the Inhabitants there, and (hall not be landed or fold in any other Parts whatfoever, and to return the like Certificates of the Landing the fume there, as are by the laid Act required on the Exportation of the faid Commodities to the Britijh Colonies in America, and within the Time for that Purpofe therein not mere than mentioned ; and fo as the whole Quantity of Wheat, Barley, Oats, Meal or Flour, which at any Time a, 500 Quarters, or Times after the pafling this A6t, and before the faid twenty-fifth Day of December one thoufand feveu hundred and hfty-feven, (hall be {hipped at both the faid Ports for the faid Ifle of Man as aforefaid, (hall One Moietv to "^^^ cxceed in the Whole two thoufand five hundred Quarters ; one Moiety whereof to be exported at the bcfhppcd at each faid Port of Southa7npton, and the other Moiety thereof to be exported at the faid Port of ^x^/^r ; any of the laid Ports. ' XV. And whereas if the Importation of Corn and Flour into Ireland was permitted, for a limited

cr IrcUoJ. * vantage to his Majefty's Subjects;' Be. it therefore enadted by the Authority aforefaid, That it fliall be lawful at any Time or Times before the twenty-fourth Day of Augujl next, for any Perfon or Perfons whatfoever to import and bring into the Kingdom oi Ireland, in any Ship or Veftel belonging to any Kijigdom or State in Amity v/ith his Majefty, his Pleirs or Succeftors, Corn and Flour from any Port or Place whatfoever ; any Act or Adts of Parliament to the contrary notwithftanding. XVI. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, 1 hat if any Adlion or Suit fliall be com- menced againft any Perfon or Perfons for any thing done in purfuance of this Act, the Defendant or Csneral lilut. Defendants in any fuch Adtion or Suit may plead the General Iftue, and give this Adt, and the Special Matter in Evidence, at any Triid to be had thereupon, and that the fame was done in purfuance, and by the Authority of this Adt ; and if it ftiall appear fo to have been done, the Jury fhall find for the Defen- dant or Defendants; and if the Plaintift" fliall be nonfuited, or diicontinue his Adtion, after the Defen- dant or DcfL-ndants fliall have appeared ; or if Judgment fhall be given upon any Verdidt or Demurrer TfcllcCofti, againft the Plaintift, the Defendant or Defendants fhall and may recover treble Cofts, and have the like Remedy for the fame as any Defendant or Defendants hath or have in other Cafes by Law.
