'43 have in their Cuflody or PofTeflion, any Vellum, Parchment or Paper, marked with the Stamp or Mark ■which fhall be (o altered or renewed, or on which, being already {lamped with a Stamp denoting any former Duty, a new Stamp is hereby diredled to be iniprelled, fhall have the like Remedy and Allowance as by any former Law relating to ftamped Vellum, Parchment or Paper, is in like Cafes diredled. XXIII. And be it further enaaed by the Authority aforefaid, Ihat the feveral Duties herein before Duties ^ he pa,<l granted, fliall be paid from time to time into the Hands of the Receiver General for the Time being, of g^j^^J^, ^^"'JJ^ the Duties on ftamped Vellum, Parchment and Paper; who fhall keep a feparate and diftinil Account of g^gj^pj. a„j the feveral Rates and Duties, and pay the fame (the neceffary Charges of raifmg, paying and accounting paid by him iaio for the fame, being deduced) into the Receipt of the Exchequer, for the Purpofes herein after exprelled, the Exchetjuer. at fuch Time, and in fuch Manner, as any former Duties on ftamped Vellum, Parchment or Paper, are directed to be paid ; and that in the Office of the Auditor of the faid Receipt fliall be provided and kept a Book or Books, in which all the Monies arifing from the faid feveral Rates and Duties, and paid into the faid Receipt as aforefaid, ihall be entered feparate and apart from all other Monies paid and pay- able to his Majefiy, his Heirs or SuccefTors, upon any Account whatfoever ; and the faid Money fo paid J'^jf^^"^'^ "^ into the faid Receipt of Exchequer as aforefaid, fubjeft to the Payment herein before directed to be made ^^^^'^^ thereon, fhall be Part of the Fund eftablifhed by this A61 for the feveral Purpofes in this Act men- '°XXiv. Day of July one thoufand feven hundred and iifty-feven, fhall fell, utter or expofe to Sale any Alma- ?^"'H".°/ ""' nack, liable to any Duty by this or any former Aa impofed, fuch Almanack not being ftamped or ^^^^^ theiT^' marked as by this or any former A6 is direaed, every Perfon fo offending fhall, for every fuch Offence, punifli(nent. be liable to the fame Punifhment as is infliaed on any Hawker of unftamped News Papers by the laid Aa made in the fixteenth Year of the Reign of his prefent Majefty ; and every Juftice of the Peace fhaii have the like Power to convia fuch Offender, as by the faid A6 is granted, with relation to the Con- viaion of Offenders againft the faid Aa , and every Perfon who fhall apprehend fuch Offender, fhall be intitlcd to the like Reward, as by the faid Aa is granted for the Apprehenfion of Offenders againft the faid Aa. XXVII. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid. That if any Perfon, from and after the Penalty of coun- faid fifth Day of Jnly one thoufand feven hundred and fifty-feven, fhall counterfeit or forge, or procure terfeitmgorforg- to be counterfeited or forged, any Seal, Stamp or Mark, to refemble any Seal, Stamp or Mark, directed '"S ^'^^ ^"^' ^'^ or allawed to be ufed by this or any other Act of Parliament for the Purpofe of denoting the Duties by DjaTlf' ' ' this or any other Act of Parliament granted, or fhall counterfeit or refemble the ImpreiTion of the fame, with an Intent to defraud his Majefty, his Heirs and Succcfi'ors, of any of the faid Duties ; or fliall utter, vend or fell any Vellum, Parchment or Paper liable to any Stamp-duty, with fuch counterfeit Stamp or Mark, knowing the fame to be counterfeit; or fhall privately and fraudulently ule any Seal, Stamp or Mark, directed or allowed to be ufed by this or any other Act of Parliament relating to the Stamp-du- ties, with Intent to defraud his Majefty, his Heirs and Succeifors, of any of the faid Duties ; every Per- fon fo offending, and being thereof lawfully convicted, fhall be adjudged a Felon, and fhall fuifer Death as in Cafes of Felony, without Benefit of Clergy.
