The link to Bulwer-Lytton's A Strange Story, actually directs to A Strange Story by Ivan Turgenev, translated by Constance Garnett (Странная история, 1869).

Lytton's story of the same name is in fact available on Project Gutenberg http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/7701

Might someone a little more capable than I, put this right?
