The younger brother of the eminent physician Thomas Willis. (Note: some sources, including Berry's Hants, list Thomas as William's cousin.)

Al. Oxon. article is as follows:

Willis, William, pleb. Christ Church, matric. 21 March, 1650-1; fellow Trinity Coll. 1652-62, B.A. 31 May, 1654, M.A. 9 April, 1657; in his will dated 6 Jan., 1662-3, and proved at Oxford 6 March following, he names his eldest brother Thomas (1637), D.Med. and his 2nd brother John. See Ath. iii. 1049n; & Berry's Hants, 128.

Berry's Hants [1] gives a family tree, with the following info:

  • Father: Thomas Willis, A.M. of St. John's College, Oxford, lost his life at the siege of Gloucester on King Charles' party, Aug. 1643, bu. in Hinxey Church.
  • Mother: Rachel, da. of William Howell, bu. 3d July, 1631, in Hinxey Church.
  • Self: William Willis, fellow of Trinity College, Oxford.
