Sidenotes edit

Can I suggest we use {{Outside L}} and {{Outside RL}} for the footnotes? They come in all the wrong places in the Page namespace but they're fine in Main.--Keith Edkins (talk) 13:43, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Support this approach for the sidenotes (not footnotes), because it is simple to implement. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 17:30, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
and {{sn-paragraph}} isn't ? I was using it because it gives a consistent layout.ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 17:39, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Page:On_the_Pollution_of_the_Rivers_of_the_Kingdom.djvu/31 Was also way i was using ((tl|sn-paragpah}} because then the side notes do not overlap as happens with the Outside-X approach. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 22:55, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
When I made the my comment I wasn't aware of {{sn-paragraph}} as a possibility. I was actually thinking of {{left sidenote}} and {{RL sidenote}}. I'm not keen on using {{sn-paragraph}} in a PotM work because the need to apply it to paragraphs without sidenotes as well as those with them won't make immediate sense to the casual editor—who are invited to PotM as a good place to learn how to do proofreading and validating when they are welcomed. I understand the reasoning applied. Any chance someone can look into the underlying code used for {{sn-paragraph}} and improve on it, It's based on the template markup I spent a long time developing to do side-titles on Commonwelath legislation, and could still be improved into a general one for all side-noted works.ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 09:36, 5 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Is this page to be proofread or is it to be marked as Without Text? —Clockery Fairfeld (talk) 13:45, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

In the original library copy there are several pamphlets bound together, but the scanners have cleverly split them up into their individual files (and retained the same covers). This hand-written page is an index of the pamphlets in this particular binding volume. It should be marked "without text". Beeswaxcandle (talk) 17:25, 4 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dealing with quoted text edit

Not sure what other have been doing with quoted text. Usually I would wrap it within <blockquote> rather than reduce the font size (my dislike with how FF displays it). In this work I have just proofread, and not typeset, and a note to go back and to do that consistently at the end. — billinghurst sDrewth 09:06, 6 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

{{outside}} takes parameters edit

Outside (L|RL) take width parameters, which I think that we should utilise, and that means putting in a wider margin. Always the issue when we go from narrow pages to the wide pages with sidenotes. I can bot that tomorrow if required. — billinghurst sDrewth 15:25, 6 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Formatting thoughts edit

I am still considering whether it is worth shifting the main article to a subpage, and leaving the introduction with an {{auxiliary Table of Contents}} in there somewhere. — billinghurst sDrewth 15:28, 6 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
