Thring, Sir Henry, K.C.B. 27 March, 1873, parliamentary counsel since 1868, counsel to Home Office 1860-8, M.A., Magdalen Coll., Camb., 1844, from Shrewsbury School, author of treatises on The Succession Duty Act 1853, on Joint Stock Companies' Law, and on Practical Legislation, a student of the Inner Temple 20 Jan., 1842 (then aged 23), called to the bar 31 Jan., 1845 (2nd son of Rev. John Gale Dalton Thring, of Alford House, Somerset); born 3 Nov., 1818; married 14 Aug., 1856, Elizabeth, 2nd dau. of John Cardwell, Esq., of Liverpool, and sister of Viscount Cardwell, and has a dau.
