Giles Fletcher,
DIPLOMATIST,
Was a brother of the preceding. He was educated at Eton and King's College, Cambridge. He was employed by Elizabeth as Commissioner in Scotland and Germany, and in 1588 as ambassador to negotiate a treaty of commerce with Russia. Of this embassy he has left a curious account, with a description of the fashions and manners of the Moscovites, under the title of "The Russian Commonwealth," 1590, which may be found in Hakluyt's Collection of Travels. He died in 1610.
