"Observations, systematical and geographical, on the herbarium collected by Professor Christian Smith, in the vicinity of the Congo, during the expedition to explore that river, under the command of Captain Tuckey, in the year 1816 is an 1818 paper written by Robert Brown on the botany of the Congo, based on collections made during the expedition of James Hingston Tuckey. Though nominally concerned with the floristics and biogeography of the area, it is today considered most significant for its systematical contributions, especially at family rank, including the first publication of Connaraceae and Chrysobalanaceae, and insightful circumscriptions of Flacourtiaceae, Loganiaceae and Berberidaceae.
