Ib. (play on לתמו, ib. 34) ח׳ שתי לתמם כדי to fulfill two visions. Gen. R. s. 13; Yalk. ib. 20 (ref. to חזי, q. v.) וכ׳ ברקיע ח׳ שעושה He creates (awe-inspiring) sights in the sky and causes holy inspiration to rest &c. חזיון II m. or חזיונה (v. חזזית) 1) lichen, moss. B. Mets. 105b ramifcation (סוכה) is considered weak, שנחבאת בהזיונה (or בחזיונה) when it is hidden under (fully covered with) moss. [Ar. ed. בחיזונה, ed. Koh. בחזיונה; comment. the grip of the hand, fr. אחז; marg. emend.; באחזיונה, v. Tosaf. a. l.)-- Erub. 28a בחזניות ולא בחזין לא אבל Ms. M. (Rabb. D. S. a. l. note quotes חזיונות) but neither with lichens nor with lichen dishes (Lecanora esculenta). -- 2) pl. חזדונות lichen, scab; trnsf. irregular luumps of clouds. Y. Taan. III, 66c bot. a cloud is called haziz (v. next w.) וכ׳ ח׳ ח׳ . . עושה שהוא for He makes the sky full of irregular lumps (cumuli), as we read (Zech. X, 1), the Lord makes hazizim.
חזיז, חזיז m. (b. h.; v. חזזית) 1) cloud with uneven surface (like scabs or swollen lumps), cumulus (which brings rain). Gen. R. s. 13 (allegorical explanation), v. חזיון I. Y. Taan. III, 66c bot., v. preced. -- Bab. ib. 9b. -. Pl. חזיזים. Ib. ח׳ מאי what are hazizim (Zech. X, 1)?
