אוש, אווש, Pa. אווש (אוו, v. אווז; cmp. אוף, אנף, אפף, אופי, אוסי, אבב) 1) to blow vehemently, make noise, shout. B. Mets. 86a וכ׳ וא׳ זיקא נשב the wind blew and howled between the branches. Ber. 50a דאוושו איידי וכ׳ because all shouted, the prayer was not heard. Ih.. ברכו כ״ע אוושו they all shouted 'bar'khu'. -- Erub. 97b מילתתא אוושא the thing grows loud, becomes known.
