כיון m. (כון) [firmness, directness, fitness;] 1) (adv.) directly, exactly. Pes. 37a כ׳ ויקבענה . . . אפשר he may form the dough in a mould and attach it to the cake directly (well fitting, without loss of time). Tam. III, 6 כ׳ פותח ואחד . . . אחד (with one key) a priest puts his hand through an opening in the door (v. אמה), and another priest opens (with the other key) directly; (Talm. ed. 30b כ׳ פותח שהוא ואחד and another key which opens directly). -- 2) (conj. followed by ש־) as soon as, since. Macc. 3a, a. fr. וכ׳ שהגיד כ׳ as soon as a witness has finished his evidence, he is not permitted to testify again (retract or modify).
