כלום m. (=מ כל, cmp. מאום) 1) anything, something, somebody (Lat. ullus). Targ. Koh. I, 9 כ׳ לית (h. text אין כל). -- Yalk. Num. 730 (ref. to Num. X, 35) ואין . . . מפניך לפניהם כ׳ אנו before thee they fee, and are we nothing before them? פניך וכשאין לפניהם כ׳ אנו אתנו כשפניך אלא לפניהם כ׳ אנו אין אתנו but (it means) when thy counten- ance is with us we are something before them &c.; Sifre Num. 84 (corr. acc). -- Kel. XXIV, 1 מכ׳ טהורה is clean from any (of the aforementioned impurities). Ber. 22b, a. fr. מכ׳ פטור is entirely exempt. Ned. I, I, a. fr. אמר לא כ׳ he has said nothing, i. e. what he said is void. --- לא כ׳ nott the least, nothing at all. Erub. 11a ולא עשה לא כ׳ (Rashi כ׳ הuע לא) he has done nothing at all, i. e. what he has done has no legal consequences. כלומר (= אמר כאילו) as though one said, that is to say, this means. Naz. II, 3 (11a) כ׳ אלא זו נתכוונה לא וכ׳(Mish. ed. לומר) she had no intention except that of one who says,his be unto me a sacrifice', i. e. she meant only to forbid herself this cup (cmp. ib. דאמר כמאן). Snh. VI, 4. (interpret. וכ׳ קללת כי, Deut.
