Erub. 83b המדבר עיסת כמה how much is tha isah of the
desert? Makhsh. II, 8 ע׳ פת bread made of started dough
(of pure flour), opp. קיבר פת. Tosef. Hall. I, 4 ע׳ העושה
בבצק לאוכלה if one starts dough with the intention to
eat it as dough when it is risen. Y. ib. II, end, 58a ע׳ דרך
the way dough is made (of pure flour). Ib. מרובה עיסתו
his (the baker's) dough is a large quantity. Ib. יפה כינה
בעיסתה, v. עין; a. v. fr. -- Pl. עיסות. Erub. l. c. (ref. to Num.
XV, 20) עיסותיכם כדי a quantity large enough for your
dough (for immediate use); וכ׳ עיסותיכם וכמה and how
large is that quantity As much as the sa of the desert.

it is our will to do thy will, and what prevents it? The

is poor dough which the baker (that sells it) declares to
be bad; a. e. - b) a mixed family, a family suspected of
containing an alien adtsmixture, isah, (opp. נקיה סולת,
v. סלת). Y. Keth. I, 25a top; Tosef. Kidd. V, 2 ע׳ איזוהי
וכ׳ כל (כשירה) whatt 'isah is it the issue of which is
admitted to priesthood? In which there is no suspicion
of an admixture of uthinim &c.; Keth. 14a אלמנת איזוהי
ע׳ (strike out אלמנת, v. Tosaf. a.l.). Tosef.. c. אמרו מה מפני
וכ׳ פסולה ע׳ why, then, has it been declared that a woman
of an isah family is prohibited from marrying into priest-
hood? Because suspected hdlalim (v. חלל II) are mixed
up with it. Eduy. VIII, 3, a. fr. ע׳ אלמנת the widow of
one belonging to an isah family. Ib. וכ׳ לטמא כשירה ע׳
a member of an isah family may serve (through inter-
marriage) to mmake clean as well as to make unclean, V.
מקוה; a. fr. - Yalk. Deut. 808 הע׳ את וערבו . עמדו (nott.
וערכו) the daughters of Lot arose and mixed the dough
(had incestuous intercourse).
עיסוק, עס׳m. (עסק) doing, management. Lev. R. s. 13 בעיסוקן . . . דאה אברהם Abraham (in his vision, Gen. eKV, 9 sq.) beheld the empires ttypically represented by their doings (policy). Y. Ber. IV, 7b bot. אחת שעה צא לעיסוקו deduct one hour for the work of preparing the sacritice; Y. Pes. V, 31, sq. Y. Sabb. V, end, 7c שעיסוקו שור רע an ox hard to manage. Y. Sot. IX, 23c bot. מצות מדידה ע׳ the law demanding the act of measuring (even if there be no doubt as to the nearest place, Deut. XXI, 2); (Bab. ib. 45a; Snh. 14b במדידה לעסוק).
עיסוריתא, עיסר׳, עישור׳ f. pl. (עסר) 1) divisions of ten. Targ. O. Deut. I, 15; Ex. XVIII, 21 ed. Berl. (oth. ed. a. Y. עעישו׳). -- 2) arrangement of tenth portions n suc- cession. Ned. 39b רבי דבי כעיש׳ like the arrangement in the house of Rabbi(that the first daughter gets one-tenth of the estate, the second one-tenth of the remainder and so on). -3) (of coins) decades, groups of tens. B. Mets. 64a top וחומשייתא בע׳ (a reasonable mistake is) a mistake in decades or in fives (where you count by tens or fives).
