Hincnac. John Small, of Cirencester, co. Gloucester, England, went to the Canadian colonies in 1792, with Governor Sinicoe, and was clerk of the Crown and Pleas, of Upper Canada, and clerk of ihe Exeei'tive Council. He m. Eliza Goldsmith, of Broadstairs, Kent, England, and had issue, I. Jantes Edward. II. John. III. Chaeles Coxwell, of whom we treat. The youngest son, Chaeles Coxwell Small, b. at Toronto 31st December, 1800 ; m. in London, Frances Elizabeth Jn^es (who was b. in Scotland, and d. February, 1858), and rf. 17th March, 1864, leaving a son, Joux Small, the subject of this memoir. Arms — Sa. on a bend arg. three roses gu. barbed and seeded ppr ■point a chessrook of the second.
