Hia second son, Robert W^ilson Ronald, of Elms House, and Parkfiekl Road, Liyerpool, co. Lancaster, with the politics and commerce of which city be was closely connected for upwards of sixty years, was h. near Ayr, 2s". B., ISOO. He settled in Liverpool m 1821, and founded there the firm of Hughes and Ronald, which in 1859 becan]e R. W. Ronald and Son, and more recently Ronald, Sons, ami Co. In 1810 he became one of the earliest directors of the Mechanics' Institution (now the Liverpool Institute), and retained the post for about twenty years ; was a member of the Anti- Monopoly Association, and later of the Liver- pool branch of the Anti-Corn Law League ; ■joined the Fmancial Reform Association, in 1848, and continued on its council until 1878. having preceded Mr. E. K. Muspratt in the jjresidentisl chair of that body. Mr. Ronald m. 24th November. 1827, his cousin, Isabel Bruce, eldest daughter of John trARDEXEB, of Liverpool, and Euphemia, liis wife, daughter of Alexander Bruce, of Shaw, Ayr- shire, N.B. He d. at his residence in Park- field Road, Liverpool, 1st December, 1887, aged 87 years, and was buried at the Necro- polis, West Derby Road, Liverpool. His eldest son, Robert Bruce Ronald, of Pembury Grange, near Tuubridge Wells, co. Kent, England (CTkJs— Melbourne, in Melbourne, and Conservative, in London), b. 2nd August, 1831; emigrated to Melbourne in 1852, and m. there, 29th August, 1854, Fanny, eldest daughter of Edwin FoWLER, of Marlton, St. Kilda, Melbourne, and has issue, I. Robert Wilson, of Nap Nap, Hay, New South Wales, the subject of this memoir. II.
