KEANE, Baron, His lordship's predecessor was his father, Sir John Keane, G.C.B. G.C.H. 1st Baron Keane. B. 1781 ; in 1840 he was raised to the peerage; was a Lieut.-Gen. in the Army, Col. of the 43rd Foot, and rendered his name memorable from his conduct, when Commander-in-Chief in India, (more especially in Affghanistan in 1839) : m. 1st, Aug. 10, 1806, Grace, daughter of Lieut.-Gen. Sir J. Smith, R.A. (she d. 1838), and by her had issue five sons and three daughters; 2ndly, Aug. 20, 1840, Charlotte Maria, daughter of Lieut.-Col. Boland ; and d. Aug. 26, 1844, without issue from his last marriage. Her ladyship married, 2ndly, 1847, W. Pigott, Esq., who d. 1875. KEANE, Dowager Baroness, CHARLOTTE MARIA, daughter of the late Lieut.-Colonel Boland ; m. 1840, as his 2nd wife, the 1st Baron Keane, who d. 1844 ; 2ndly, 1847, as his 2nd wife, William Pigott, Esq., who d. 1875.
