Born Nov. 16th, 1827; succeeded his father in the Baronetcy, 1849, re- stored to the Earldom of Southesk, with the original precedence by Act of Parlia- ment, 1 855 ; and created a peer of the United Kingdom, 1869 ; educated at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst; entered the 92nd Foot, 1845, exchanged into the Grenadier Guards the same year, and retired, 1849 ; was Lord Lieut, of Kincardineshire, 1849 56: married 1st (1849), Lady Catherine Hamilton Noel, 3rd daughter of the 1st Earl of Gainsborough, (this lady died, 18551 and has issue, living, Son, -Charles Noel, Lord Carnegie, b. 1854; appointed Sub-Lieut.
