May 30, 1SOO, and succeeded his father, Feb. 14, 1843 ; was a Col. in the Army, M.P. for Clackmannan and Kinross, 1824 31, and for the county of Stirling, 1838 41, and Lord Lieut., Custos-Rotulorum, and Sheriff Principal of Clackmannanshire : m. April 3, 1832, Louisa Penuel, daughter of the Hon. J. Hay Forbes, a Lord of Session in Scotland, (by courtesy Lord Medwyn), and d, in 1852, having had issue three sons and two daughters. HENRY AUSTIN BRUCE, P.C., 1st Baron, 2nd son of the late John Bruce Pryce, Esq., of Duffryn, St. Nicholas, Glamorgan- shire, who assumed in 1837 the name of Pryce in addition to Bruce, which in 1805 he had assumed in lieu of his patronymic Knight by Sarah, 2nd daughter of the late Rev. Hugh W. Austin, Rector of St. Peter's, Barbadoes. Born April 16th, 1815. Called to the bar at Lincoln's Inn 1837, but withdrew from practice 1843; was Police Magistrate of Merthyr Tydvil 1 847- 52; Under Secretary for the Home Department 18624 ; Vice President of the Education Board of the Privy Council 1864 6; 2nd Church States Commissioner 18656; and Secretary of State for the Home Department 1868 73, when he became Lord President of the Council. Is a Dep. Lieut, and a Magistrate for co. Glamorgan,. Sat as M.P. for Merthyr Tydvil (L ) 185268, when he was an unsuccessful candidate, and for Renfrewshire 186973. Married 1st (1846), Anabella who died 1852, only daughter of the late Richard Beadon, Esq., of Clifton, and has issue, living, Son, Henry Campbell, b. 1851.
